These hearty meatballs in a sweet and savoury sauce make a crowd-pleasing appetizer or delicious main course served on rice.

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Freezing : excellent
Makes: 40 small meatballs

Ingredients:

1 lb (500 g) ground beef, pork, chicken or turkey
1 egg
1/2 cup (125 mL) Robin Hood® or Old Mill® Oats
2 tbsp (30 mL) onion soup mix
2 tbsp (30 mL) Crisco® Canola or Vegetable Oil
1 cup (250 mL) Crazy For Glaze
1/4 cup (50 mL) chicken or beef stock

Directions:

1. Combine beef, egg, oats and onion soup mix. Knead mixture together. Shape into 1” (2.5 cm) balls and place on baking sheet lined with waxed paper or parchment paper.
2. Heat oil on medium-high heat in a large, deep nonstick skillet. Add meatballs and cook for 3-5 minutes or until brown. Do this in two batches if necessary. Return all meatballs to skillet.
3. Combine Crazy For Glaze and stock. Add to meatballs and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently, uncovered for 10-15 minutes or until meatballs are cooked.

Note:

1. Serve this with rice for a main course.
2. To serve as an appetizer, pile the meatballs on a platter with the skewers coming out at all angles.
3. Use ready-made frozen meatballs for a quick alternative
